Hsu (Huang Xiao Ming) unexpectedly saves Feng (Sun Li), and falls in love with her. Her father, Shanghai's most influential triad leader, helps Hsu and his best friend Ding Lik to become powerful men in the Shanghai Bund. Soon, Hsu discovers that Feng's father is actually aiding the Japanese to corrupt China, and out of his patriotism he turns against his would-be father-in-law, who then sends assassins to kill Hsu. Hsu has no choice but to leave behind his beloved woman and flee for his life. A love triangle unfolds. Just when Feng is about to marry Ding Lik, Hsu returns to Shanghai, to take revenge on her father for having destroyed his new family & unborn child.
